Stamp it before you send it

Add a text or logo watermark to a PDF, with a preview of every style

Stamp "Confidential", "Draft" or your logo on every page of a PDF. Preview the styles side by side, set the opacity and size, and optionally lock the watermark into the page so it cannot be lifted off.

Preview watermark styles

Preview the Center, Diagonal, Top and Bottom text styles on your own document before you apply one.

Why mark a document before it leaves?

A draft that gets mistaken for a final version, or a confidential document forwarded without anyone noticing it was confidential, causes avoidable problems. A visible watermark tells every reader what the document is and how it should be handled, and a logo watermark helps show where it came from.

How it works

How to watermark a PDF

  1. Open Watermark PDF from Document Tools.
  2. Choose the PDF and click the upload button to see a preview of your document.
  3. Choose Text or Image. For text, type your wording (up to 100 characters), pick a colour, and set the font size and opacity. For an image, upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, then set its position, size and opacity.
  4. Choose a style from the previews. Text can be Center (Large), Diagonal Repeating, Across Top or Across Bottom. Images can be centred, repeated diagonally, or placed at the top, bottom or any corner.
  5. Optionally tick the option to rasterize the result, and choose a resolution and colour mode.
  6. Click Apply Watermark to PDF and download the new file.
What's included

What the watermark tool covers

Text watermarks

Type up to 100 characters, then choose the colour, font size and opacity. Preview Center (Large), Diagonal Repeating, Across Top and Across Bottom side by side.

Image and logo watermarks

Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF. PNG is recommended when you need transparency. Place it in the centre, diagonally repeated, or at the top, bottom or any corner, and set its size and opacity.

Preview before you apply

See each style on your own document first, so you can pick the one that is readable without hiding the content.

Lock it in

Optionally rasterize the finished file at 150, 200 or 300 DPI, in colour or greyscale, so the watermark is permanently embedded in the pages.

Why it matters

Why use it

Mark drafts and confidential files

Make the status of a document obvious to every reader.

Your logo, your wording

Use your own text or your organisation logo instead of a generic stamp.

A new copy

Watermarking produces a new file, so your original stays clean.

Know the trade-off

Rasterising turns pages into images, so the text is usually no longer selectable or searchable. Keep the original for anything that needs searching.

Accountability

Every action is tied to the staff member who ran it and timestamped. Output files are automatically deleted after a set retention window, so you stay audit-ready without the file clutter.

Common questions

Watermark PDF FAQ

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF. PNG is recommended when you want a transparent background. You choose the position, size and opacity.

What text styles are available?

Center (Large), Diagonal Repeating, Across Top and Across Bottom. The tool previews each on your document so you can choose.

Can I control how visible the watermark is?

Yes. You can set the opacity, and for text you can also set the colour and font size.

What does the rasterize option do?

It turns each page into an image with the watermark embedded, so the watermark cannot simply be removed. The text in the document usually stops being selectable or searchable, so keep your original if you need that.

Is a watermark the same as redaction?

No. A watermark marks the document but leaves its content readable. To remove details such as names or plan numbers, use a redaction tool.

Who can use it?

Access is controlled in Admin Tools. You decide which staff can use Document Tools.
